The Primary School is part of the school campus of the International School in Differdange.

Three detached buildings at the northern end of the Parc de la Chiers create an open urban space, accessible to all and situated in a central part of the town.

In terms of typology, it corresponds to the secondary school. The sports hall is situated in the centre of the building. A ring of classrooms forms a courtyard on the roofs of the sports hall and changing rooms, accessible to the children from the first and second floors.

The school is designed as a Projet intégré (all-day school) for 375 primary school children and 60 children from the Précoce programme. Most of the rooms, as well as the sanitary facilities, are shared by the school and the after-school care centre.

From the main entrance, one enters the ‘Piazza’, the place of arrival, encounter and identity. The children are welcomed here and can take in the whole building from the ‘Piazza’. They can go directly to the natural playground, the sports hall, the recreation room, the main staircase, or the school office.

The playground is a natural play area, sheltered and enclosed by the same slatted structure as the school building itself. Beneath the surrounding first floor are the playground’s storage rooms and cloakrooms, as well as a bicycle shelter. The covered area in front of the restaurants also serves as a covered courtyard.
